BRIEF BACKGROUND OF RSU

The Rengma Students Conference which is now Rengma Students Union, for the first time drafted to be held during October 1947 with Mr. Daniel Kent as President and Late Riga Thong as General Secretary. During the time in 1945/46 all the Teachers were made responsible to bring their students to the conference. Village G.Bs were made compulsory to attend the conference. The importance of education, discipline and the responsibilities of parents were emphasized, Teachers and G.Bs were the main speakers thus Rengma students union was born. The Rengma students owe those pioneers greatly.
The First President of RSU Shri Daniel Kent who was also the first Rengma IAS and Riga Thong Ex.MLA.Looking back with Nostalgia at Happy times and rugged road our students passed through the union platform have always being a source of inspiration and encouragement which have produced a number various dignitaries in Government agencies, politics and many more..
On its 63rd years struggling to preserve and protect our treasured culture and heritage with the motto “Harmony and Progress” despite of many short falls the union have being venturing for quality education to the students and pledge to protect and safeguard the territorial integrity of the Rengmas,and to preserve; social and cultural identity, customary and traditional practices.
In a way the Rengma have migrated to different places like the Rengma Hills in Assam,the Eastward the Present Pochurys and Central Rengma under Tseminyu Sub Division along National High way 61.The Rengmas of Nagaland dwell in a rectangle like strip of land in Kohima District which lies between the Angamis on the south, the Sumis on the East and the Lothas on the North.Rengma like any other Naga Tribe has its own Rich distinct and unique Cultural and Traditional practices.
The permanent Oking of the Union is situated at Tseminyu Town adjacent to Government guest House Tseminyu with all the required basic amenities where the Office conference Hall having the Capacity of 50 seats were being used by various Govt. department and Organization for meetings,workshop,Seminars etc.


A. The Union have Eight Constituent Units namely :

1. KASHA DAHO STUDENTS UNION,
2. PKR,
3. TSOGIN RANGE,
4. TSEMINYU RANGE,
5. TESOPHENYU GROUP,
6. NSUNYU RANGE,
7. EHUNNU & YIKHANU RANGE,
8. KANDINU GROUP,
